DESTINED PROMISE

The crowd stood up applauding Rachael as she make her way to the podium, Rachael marked out from secondary school as the best graduating student in the state. She had so many scholarships to school in any federal university of her choice but she chooses to school in university of Benin (UNIBEN).

It was a fresh journey for Rachael, a more determine girl, a girl of substance, a girl whose dream is to become the first Nigeria cardiothoracic surgeon. Life was going well for Rachael, because of her determination for success she refuses to engage herself in social life as other girls in campus. Things were going really fine for Rachael as she record high grades in her studies consecutively in 100 level, 200 level and 300 level, it was a beautiful Monday morning, Rachael had to woke up on time to meet up with the morning class which commence 7:30am.

On her way to school she came across a chaotic scenarios full of people murmuring and whispering among themselves, Richard a final year student in law was shot by unknown gang, Richard was too weak to speak out, everyone was restraining from him, no one was willing to help considering the fact that he was shot, some say his a cultist, some say his a criminal, different opinion and mind suggestions coming out from the crowd. But Rachael could not hold back the pains of Richard crying for help, she threw her books and ran to Richard, brought her first aid box and inject Richard to avoid spread of infection. 

The crowd could not utter a word as Rachael pave way from the crowd and stop a taxi that took Richard straight to the hospital, Rachael was God sent and life saving tool for Richard. After months of treatment Richard was fully fit and back to his feet. Two days in treatment Rachel stop visiting Richard, Richard was really sorry because he did not have the chance to appreciate the one person that saves his life.

Rachael could not sleep in church as she attend all-night Because of the crowding noise and heat, she decides to go home at about 5:45am, she was 20 feet away from church when some group of boys attacked Rachael from behind in attempt to rape her, Rachael was powerless to stage this guy's and she lost her voice in the all-night due to excessive praise and worship. She was screaming but no one could hear, Richard who also attend the all-night was going home at that same hour saw some group of boys trying to undress a girl, he quickly look around pick a stick ran straight to the boys with full force and energy, he hit one of the boy's and the group disbanded. 

He picks Rachael from the ground, cleans her up, helped her with the dirt in her hair and walks her home. Rachael never knew it was the boy who she helps some months ago and Richard never knew it was Rachael that saved his life at the point of death. After exchange of appreciation, Richard introduces himself "my name is Richard a final year student of law". Then Rachael reply him in the same manner,  at this point ! Rachael remembers Richard but Richard did not know who Rachael was. 

Rachael knew Richard did not recognize her because his brain were dead when he was shot and he could hardly remember anyone, then Rachael ask Richard " are you the guy that was shot by some gang months ago", Richard who was never surprise by the question because the news of Richard incident was in the mouth of every student. With flinch of smile he said yes, then Rachael said to Richard am glad you are strong and healthy, with a glimpse of smile in Richard face his responds was thanks.

Then Richard said to Rachael "all thanks go to the girl that save me from death", is a pity I never had the chance to appreciate her formally, my heart skips whenever I think about her!  When I think about her, much butterfly comes out from my heart. Rachael smile and said "have you try your best to look for her", Richard responds was "yes". It seems she lives a quiet life in school, no one seems to know her, Rachael said to Richard, am very hopeful that one day you we find her. Rachael thank Richard for his courage to rescue her earlier as she walk Richard down the lane before returning back home.

Exams was fast approaching, students were busy focusing and concentrating on their studies, Richard made a decision to leave the house and read in school for full concentration, Rachael thought to herself, it we be nice if I read in school for swift concentration. Richard and Rachael were reading in the school library, it took one hour for Richard to notice Rachael, he stop reading and walk to Rachael with a pleasant style of salutation, "hey good evening " I never knew you were the one ahead of me reading, nice meeting you here, with smile on Rachael face, she replied Richard with the same manner. They both sat for conversation, as they both talk about life experience, "Rachael said to Richard "my aim in life is to save lives no matter the condition or situation of the victim". Then Richard replies "you have the heart of the girl that save me, sometimes in my heart when I think about her, I see you in the picture of my heart. 

Then Rachael continue and said “the crowd refuse to help him" I have to try my best to make sure he survived.  Richard was confused at a point, he thought Rachael was throwing out jokes, then he smile and said “my main aim in life is to use my profession to bring justice to those that are helpless". Richard ask Rachael, how do you know much about the guy that was shot, Rachael replied by saying "because I was the one that saved him". 

For a moment the sky was bringing out twinkles before Richard, he thought he was dreaming, Rachael apologies to Richard by saying "sorry I kept this from you, I remember you vividly from the day you save me from those rapist. Richard bow down his face to the desk and TEARS roll down from his eyes, he was full of emotions, he hug Rachael warmly and said, I never knew the angel have been praying to God for years was already with me. Rachael was shy a bit, but later on hug Richard warmly, they both spent hours hugging, Richard could hardly say a word. From that day, life was beautiful for them, they graduated from school with the best results, got married and spend the rest of their life's together with 3 blessed beautiful kids..
